Knee Injury and Prevention Learning Module
This module is designed to allow learners to discover how to prevent knee injuries caused by running, types of knee injuries that may occur when running, imaging ordered after knee injury, and possible treatment of knee injuries.
Module overview and Objectives:
Through interaction with the module the learner will be able to:
1. Independently describe a rationale for imaging studies and recommend an imaging study based on the provided symptoms with 80% accuracy
2. Independently formulate an exercise program consisting of five exercises or strategies for prevention of common knee injuries that occur during running with 80% accuracy.
3. Independently state what injuries to the knee may result as of running, the causes of those injuries, and the signs and symptoms of those injuries with 80% accuracy.
4. Independently identify how knee injuries are managed both from a physical therapy and medical perspective with 80% accuracy.
5. Independently identify a program for management of knee injury, given a patient case with 80% accuracy.
This module is designed with the STAR Legacy model, which starts with a challenge, an assessment of previous knowledge, resources to help you learn, an assessment of knowledge gained, and an opportunity to reflect on what you have learned. Required elements for completion of the WBI are: the Pre-Work, the Thoughts form, The Assessment (in the form of a quiz and a homework assignment), the wrap up reflection, and the course evaluation.
